FAMILES NEED FATHERS - BOTH PARENTS MATTER (CYMRU/WALES) offers information, support and advice to parents and grandparents facing child contact problems. The charity's core beliefs are that:
Both parents share common responsibilities for the upbringing of children.
Children have the right to maintain direct contact and a meaningful relationship with both parents following divorce or separation unless this would harm the child.
Fathers and other male carers need targeted support to help them fulfil their responsibilities to their children as they are not being reached by existing services.
Children should be protected from parents who abuse them in any way including physically, emotionally and psychologically, and that ‘Parental Alienation’ is a form of emotional abuse of the child.
The charity offers free face-to-face support at monthly meetings across Wales, as well as a helpline (0845 600 4446) and free legal clinics with support from local solicitors. It also undertakes fundraising, research and lobbying for the removal of barriers to the positive inclusion of both parents and the wider family in the upbringing of children.
Mark is currently co-chair of FNF Wrexham - for further details including meeting times please see the website or contact Mark directly.
